生平与历史

Between about 1801, when Joseph Panormo began working independently of his father Vincenzo, and Vincenzo's death in 1813, instruments from the Panormo workshop carry an attribution that is often genuinely uncertain. Joseph's hand is recognisable in a number of violins labelled under Vincenzo's own name from this period — ...Read More some of these carry a small secondary mark, "J.P." or "Joseph Panormo," stamped or signed to the top block, evidently added by Joseph himself to record his own part in an instrument that would otherwise pass as his father's work. The reverse also holds: once independent, Joseph's own early output still shows Vincenzo's direct training and influence closely enough that the two hands are not always easily separated. Instruments from this decade are catalogued under both names for that reason, rather than assigned definitively to one maker or the other. Read Less
