The brothers entered into partnership with Charles Nicolas Eugène Gand , forming a prolific and successful firm known as Gand & Bernardel Frères . Like his teacher Lupot, Bernardel preferred classical Cremonese models, especially Stradivari. Though somewhat eclipsed by the work of his contemporary J.B.
