Hermann Oscar Bischofberger (1922-2010), son of the well-known Zurich maker Oskar Bischofberger (1888-1966), who worked on Stradivari and Guarneri models. Trained by his father, he moved to Chicago in 1949, worked for the Kenneth Warren workshop from 1951 to 1955 and later practised in Seattle. This violin is dated 1954: clear, projecting and exceptionally playable.
